The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in Washington has honored UNMC’s Denham Harman, M.D., Ph.D., as an AAAS fellow. Election as a fellow is an honor bestowed upon AAAS members by their peers for their efforts to advance science.

New UNMC microscope first of its kind in the state
A critical new fluorescence microscope and reader now provides researchers at UNMC the ability to capture images of cells and to analyze changes in their size, shape, motility, intensity and other cellular properties.

Potential hope for treatment of neurological, ocular diseases
A team of UNMC researchers has found that a naturally-occurring enzyme in the human brain can reduce the effects of oxidative stress on brain cells. Oxidative stress is the key factor in damage caused by epilepsy, stroke, dementia and ocular diseases.
