New specialty prepares nurses for family, mental health role

The UNMC College of Nursing has received a $750,000 federal grant that will help ease Nebraska’s shortage of rural health professionals by preparing students in the dual capacity of a family nurse practitioner and advanced practice psychiatric/mental health nurse.

Some UNMC computers infected by Blaster Worm

On Tuesday, the UNMC campus experienced workstation difficulties due to a computer virus called the Blaster Worm. Less than 10 percent of the UNMC computers were infected with this worm. ITS has been working with departmental personnel to repair infected machines. If you are still experiencing difficulties with your computer, call your computer support person or the HelpDesk at 559-7700.

UNMC to implement workplace wellness program

With health-care costs rising at an alarming rate, the timing has never been better for creative solutions to help stem the tide. One such solution is implementing a formalized University of Nebraska workplace wellness program at UNMC. On Saturday, the University of Nebraska Board of Regents approved UNMC as a pilot site for Simply Well, a program piloted by The Nebraska Medical Center’s Center for Occupational Health.
