Regents approve salary pool increase, other measures

A 2.5 percent increase in the University of Nebraska salary pool was approved Friday by the University of Nebraska Board of Regents.

This marks the second-consecutive year NU’s salary pool increased by 2.5 percent. Prior to 2011, NU went two years with no increase in the salary pool.

Other measures

Also on Friday, the regents approved:

  • The Plus One Proposal, which will allow NU to expand eligibility for participation in the university’s benefits program to include employees’ same-sex and opposite-sex partners.
  • UNMC’s purchase of land south of Leavenworth Street to be converted into more campus parking.

More discussion at employee forums

Discussion about these measures and other topics will be featured at a pair of employee forums next Monday.

The first forum will be at 8:30 a.m. in the Sorrell Center, Room 1005 and the second will start at noon in the Durham Research Center Auditorium. The second forum will be broadcast to UNMC sites around the state.

This phrase has possibly been over-used lately, but deep thanks to the University for being on the right side of history with the Plus One Proposal. I am a proud employee today.
