One of the holiest months for people of the Muslim faith is Ramadan, which has begun and will run this year from April 2 to May 1.
For Muslims, Ramadan is a time marked by fasting, reflecting, charity and prayer as many individuals focus on acts of worship and take purposeful steps to get closer to God. Muslims will fast each day — forgoing all food and water — during Ramadan from sunrise to sunset, or approximately 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
People who work with our campus’ Muslim students, residents, fellows and employees can give consideration to their scheduling and work responsibilities during this time, allowing time for predawn and evening meals and prayer time.
The Interfaith Prayer Space on the Omaha campus is located in Room 1469 on Level 1 of the Nebraska Medical Center’s University Tower.
Ramadan concludes with Eid al-Fitr, or "Festival of the Breaking of the Fast," on May 2.
