UNMC is marking Graduate-Professional Students Appreciation Week April 4-8.
Mayor Jean Stothert has proclaimed Graduate Professional Students Appreciation Week in Omaha, in support of the upcoming week of activities at UNMC. Mayor Stothert issued the proclamation to recognize the contributions and accomplishments of the students and the impact they have on their communities.
"Our graduate and professional students make up the backbone of our university," said Dele Davies, MD, senior vice chancellor for academic affairs and dean of graduate studies. "The energy and innovation these students bring to our programs are the fuel that propel our discoveries and nourish the knowledge that transforms the lives of so many people in Nebraska and around the world. I’m very proud of the depth of community and mutual support our graduate and professional students bring to our campus each day."
Here is a roundup of the activities (with times, places and sponsoring entities) that offer chances to participate or show support for graduate and professional students.
All week:
- Notes of gratitude for students, UNMC College of Pharmacy (COP).
- Keystone Trail Challenge – share via social media, UNMC College of Medicine (COM).
- Social media photo scavenger hunt, COM, prompts emailed to medical students.
- Guess-who embarrassing faculty photos, COP.
- Pharmacy building scavenger hunt, COP.
- Spotlight on new pharmaceutical sciences graduate students, digital screen in pharmacy common space, COP.
Monday (today):
- Coffee Monday: 7:30-10 a.m., Durham Research Center, Sorrell Center, Maurer Center for Public Health; all day at Health Science Education Complex at Kearney, UNMC College of Allied Health Professions (CAHP), COPH, Graduate Studies, Student Life.
Tuesday:
- Donuts with the Dean/Alumni: 8:30-9:30 a.m., College of Pharmacy, COP; 7:30-8:30 a.m., Sorrell and Health Science Education Complex (CAHP).
- Paws for Friendship therapy dogs, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Student Wellness Lounge in the Sorrell Center, COM.
- Eggstravaganza, 4-5 p.m., UNMC ice rink, (Graduate Studies).
Wednesday:
- De-Stress Pop-up (treats), 1:30 p.m., Sorrell, Durham Research Center, Student Life, Strategic Communications.
Thursday:
- Graduate Studies town hall/pizza and ice cream, 4-5 p.m., Durham Research Center I auditorium, Graduate Studies.
- Card/board games (in-person), JackBox party (via Zoom), 12-2 p.m., Student Wellness Lounge, COM.
- Allied health scavenger hunt, all day, various locations, CAHP.
