Tammy Webster, PhD, featured in ASRT Scanner

UNMC faculty frequently appear in journals.

But Tammy Webster, PhD, assistant dean for academic affairs in the College of Allied Health Professions, and professor of radiography, is on one.

Specifically, Dr. Webster appears on the cover of the latest ASRT Scanner, a bimonthly magazine published by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT).

ASRT Scanner is more a true trade magazine than scientific or medical journal – ASRT publishes its peer-reviewed research in the bimonthly Radiologic Technology and semiannual Radiation Therapist. But Dr. Webster’s — and UNMC’s — innovations in using technology to reach learners are featured in the publication, which is read by radiography professionals across the country.

In addition to appearing on the magazine, Dr. Webster also is appearing in journals for her work, including the publications "COVID-19 Planning Among Radiologic Science Programs: Response Mitigation Activities" and "Scholarly Productivity Among Educators in Radiologic Sciences and Other Health Care Professions: A Comparative Approach."

Dr. Webster reports that two more studies, on COVID-19 contingency plans among radiologic science programs and shift work and mental health among working radiologic technologists, have recently been accepted for publication.

Dr. Webster assumed full time leadership duties as an assistant dean about a year ago, after serving previously as director of allied health’s radiography program. She has won multiple allied health teaching awards, has served in faculty senate leadership, presented nationally at the Association of Educators in Imaging and Radiologic Sciences meeting and is a former Nebraska Society of Radiologic Technologists Radiologic Technologist of the Year.
