Lauren Turco Brannan, MD, is a new faculty member at UNMC.

Research/professional interests:

  • Intersection of law enforcement and emergency medicine
  • Traumatic brain injuries
  • Prehospital medicine     

How I fell in love with emergency medicine: I love the variety and challenges of emergency medicine. There's a different story behind every exam room door. Emergency medicine is never boring.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in biochemistry, Creighton University 
  • Master of applied statistics & analytics, University of Kansas Medical Center
  • Doctor of medicine, Creighton University

Three things people may not know about me:

  • I love Belgian Malinois dogs and do some volunteering for the American Belgian Malinois Rescue when I can.
  • During my master's program, I fell in love with computer coding and data analytics and plan to apply to a PhD program next year.
  • When not in scrubs, I am working on my 1950s home, including gutting the kitchen and redoing the wiring and plumbing. (Thanks, Dad, for the help and learning.)
