Why I chose anesthesiology: As I completed all my rotations in medical school, I enjoyed many aspects of all of them and wished there was a field where I could be involved in all realms of patient care. Anesthesiology was the answer to this and, along with all the other skills and expertise that an anesthesiologist harbors following their training, was what pushed me to train in this field of medicine. It is literally (besides marrying my wife) the best decision I have made.

How I became interested in critical care anesthesiology: I picked up my interest in critical care as a medical student during a rotation at the VA. Recognizing how close the practice of critical care and anesthesiology were intertwined, it seemed like the perfect match for me, and I felt that critical care training made me a more complete anesthesiologist.
