The UNMC Center for Healthy Living invites the campus to participate in the eight-week Fresh Start Challenge from Jan. 12 through March 8.
The challenge combines healthy eating, a commitment to daily exercise and a focus on the eight pillars of wellness (social, physical, occupational, emotional, intellectual, financial, spiritual and environmental) to improve overall well-being.
“Wellness starts with small steps,” said Kim Rohloff, exercise fitness associate with the Center for Healthy Living. “Over eight weeks, we’ll help people discover how fitness, nutrition and mindful habits can transform both energy and outlook.”
The challenge is free and open to members of the UNMC and Nebraska Medicine community, which includes students, employees and members of the Center for Healthy Living. Participants do not need to be members to join the challenge.
Online registration is open through Jan. 14. Participants earn points throughout the challenge, and those who complete and submit their challenge card by March 13 will be entered into a drawing for prizes.
The Center for Healthy Living also is launching a new group fitness class schedule in January, including several new classes.
New rates are available for personal training packages, which include a personalized fitness plan tailored to individual goals, expert guidance from certified exercise and fitness associates and hands-on training to boost confidence and results.
