The search committee for the UNMC College of Allied Health Professions’ dean search has identified Tammy Webster, PhD, as the finalist for the position of dean.
UNMC College of Nursing Dean Lepaine Sharp-McHenry, DNP, chair of the UNMC College of Allied Health Professions Dean Search Committee, made the announcement to the college last week after “a thoughtful and comprehensive search process.”
Dr. Webster has served as executive associate dean of the UNMC College of Allied Health Professions since August 2025 and is a professor in the college. She formerly served as associate dean for academic affairs for allied health.
Dr. Webster will meet with campus leaders, faculty, staff, students and external stakeholders this month in both in-person and virtual formats. The meetings, which will provide valuable opportunities for engagement and dialogue, will be:
- Monday, March 9, on the Omaha campus.
- Dr. Webster will deliver a campus presentation March 9 from noon to 1 p.m. in the Sorrell Center, Room 2014. The session also will be available to all UNMC faculty, staff and students via Zoom at this link.
- Tuesday, March 10, on the Kearney campus.
A University of Nebraska Developing Excellence in Academic Leaders (NU DEAL) fellow, Dr. Webster has held several leadership positions within the college and across UNMC, including faculty coach for the UNMC Office of Faculty Development and co-chair of the UNMC Education Council. She recently completed a graduate certificate in education law and policy from the University of Georgia.
Prior to taking on an administrative role, Dr. Webster was a nationally recognized educator serving as program director of UNMC’s radiography, computed tomography and cardiovascular interventional technology programs. She’s been featured on the cover of ASRT Scanner, a bimonthly magazine published by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.
The next UNMC College of Allied Health Professions dean will succeed Kyle Meyer, PhD, who announced his decision last summer to step down as dean in 2026. Dr. Meyer served as senior associate dean of the then-UNMC School of Allied Health Professions prior to the college’s founding in 2015. He will continue to serve as associate vice chancellor for health workforce initiatives and Armstrong Family Distinguished Chair of Rural Healthcare Workforce Strategy.
Allied health professions comprise about 60% of the national health care workforce. With 14 health professions programs at UNMC, the college boasts the second highest enrollment among UNMC colleges. The UNMC College of Allied Health Professions is known as a national leader in distance education, pedagogy and rural health. It has grown exponentially in enrollment, scholarship, philanthropic support and more under Dr. Meyer’s leadership, especially since becoming a college.
