Center for Healthy Living offering StrongHER strength, nutrition program

Jennifer Cera, DNP

This spring, the Center for Healthy Living is offering a powerful wellness opportunity designed specifically for women navigating one of life’s most transformative stages.

StrongHER, running May 11-July 3 and open to anyone, is a paid eight‑week program that includes weekly in‑person semi‑private training sessions, three interactive nutrition workshops and two special guest sessions with UNMC’s Jennifer Cera, DNP.

Dr. Cera, who has provided pelvic health and menopausal therapy for more than 20 years, currently practices at the Olson Center for Women’s Health, serves as co-coordinator of the Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner Program and is a clinical associate professor at UNMC College of Nursing.

She will outline the new 2026 guidelines for menopausal hormone therapy and discuss prevention and treatment options for pelvic floor disorders, as well as the musculoskeletal syndrome of menopause. As part of her sessions, she will talk about common laboratory tests that woman discuss with their providers.

“Menopause doesn’t have to be confusing or overwhelming,” Dr. Cera said. “With the right education and support, women can navigate this transition with confidence, comfort and control.”

During perimenopause and menopause, women experience hormonal shifts that can lead to muscle loss, decreased bone density, changes in metabolism and increased inflammation. Strength training becomes essential during this stage because it helps preserve lean muscle, support joint health, improve balance and maintain bone strength.

Paired with evidence‑based nutrition strategies, women can better manage symptoms, support metabolic health and feel more energized and resilient.

StrongHER combines these two tools, movement and nutrition, to help women thrive through menopause.

The program will offer women:

  • Guidance for strength training.
  • Accountability to stay consistent.
  • Nutrition education tailored to menopause.
  • A supportive, empowering community.

The program options are:

  • $199 for the full program: Eight semi‑private personal training sessions at the Center for Healthy Living on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:15 p.m. Two of Dr. Cera’s educational sessions on May 13 and 20. Two interactive nutrition workshops on June 3 and 10.
  • $65 for a nutrition‑only option. Dr. Cera’s educational sessions on May 13 and 20. The interactive nutrition workshops on June 3 and 10.

The nutrition workshops and educational sessions will be held in person, with the option to join virtually if participants are unable to attend on site.
