Below is a list of achievements, activities and happenings involving UNMC staff, faculty and students.

Ashish Joshi, M.D., assistant professor in the department of health services research administration and Center for Global health and Development in the College of Public Health, and Master of Public Health student Kate Trout received a best paper award at the First International Conference on Global Health Challenges, Global Health 2012, held in October in Venice, Italy. Trout presented the paper, titled “Heath Kiosks as an Equal Opportunity Resource for Better Health: A Systematic Review,” at the conference.

Kevin Garvin, M.D., professor and chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation, was elected into membership of the International Hip Society in 2012. Dr. Garvin is the first and only orthopaedic surgeon from Nebraska to be a member of the International Hip Society, The Hip Society, and The Knee Society, three of the most pre-eminent groups in the field of orthopaedic surgery.

UNMC’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day event featured Douglas County treasurer, John W. Ewing Jr. This year, employees were able to view the event via a live stream. In case you missed it, here is the talk, “Are YOU Living the Dream?” on YouTube.
