Forum scheduled for today

UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D., will host a forum this afternoon for faculty, employees and students, detailing how UNMC will address the remaining budget cuts for the upcoming fiscal year.

The forum will begin at 3 p.m. in the Eppley Science Hall Amphitheater, with the fourth-floor University Hospital Amphitheater serving as an overflow room. Sign language interpretation will be provided at today’s forum, which will be broadcast to the following sites:

  • Kearney, UNK communications center, Room 221;
  • Lincoln, UNMC College of Dentistry, Room 4 and College of Nursing, campus channel 4; and
  • Scottsbluff, CON Panhandle Room, No. 205.

Another forum will begin at 9 a.m. tomorrow (Tuesday, June 10), in the same Omaha locations. That forum will not be broadcast.

On Saturday, NU Board of Regents approved the university’s biennial budget. The budget cuts were necessitated after state revenues fell below projections. To deal with the shortfall, the university’s appropriation was cut by 4.7 percent for the upcoming, 2003-2005 biennium.
