Lisa Green

Each Thursday, we randomly feature a medical center employee.

This week, we learn about Lisa Green, an instructional technologist in the College of Dentistry.

  • Name: Lisa Green
  • Hometown: Omaha
  • No. of years at UNMC: Two months; 10 years in university system (UNO)

Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC:

I develop instructional materials and train dental health practitioners in technologies that support the teledentistry initiative under the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant.

Leadership is one of UNMC’s brand values. Tell us of a time you witnessed a person or group display leadership at UNMC.

I view leadership in its most important and most effective role as service. So the person that comes to my mind is Joshua Frank. Since I’ve been here, he has served everyone that I have observed, willingly and at a moment’s notice. If he can’t get to you immediately, he is sure to get back to you as soon as he can. If he can’t answer your question, he goes to find the answer, and he does it all with a pleasant demeanor. I’ve never observed him irritated. Even when things get demanding, he goes out of his way to be helpful. I think he is exemplary in the waning skill of customer service. I’ve witnessed this same attitude within the entire IT team.

What is your favorite spring activity?

Gardening. I enjoy growing herbs that I can pick fresh and add to my meals. I enjoy the aromas of lemon balm or lemon thyme when the wind blows through it or when you run your hand across it. I also enjoy fruit and vegetable gardening. I love hanging out outside wherever there are green, wide open spaces where I can think, write and read.

List three things people may not know about you.

  • I was formerly a clothing designer and owned an apparel design business for 10 years.
  • I’m not the biggest sports person, but I am a Husker fan! We have three generations of men in our family who have played Nebraska football. To us, Nebraska is like Tara (from “Gone with the Wind”).
  • I have written several plays and worked in theater doing professional costuming for the Omaha Community Playhouse and the John Beasley Theater (“Jitney” and “The Wiz”). I performed at the John Beasley Theater in “God’s Trombones.” I also enjoy dancing.
