  • Name: Paula Swanson
  • Hometown: Omaha
  • No. of years at UNMC: 26

Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.
I provide administrative support to the Director of the Munroe-Meyer Institute (Mike Leibowitz, Ph.D.), along with several other faculty members and staff here at MMI. I also manage and coordinate all education and training activities as well as scheduling for medical students and house officers.

“Being a trusted resource” is one of UNMC’s brand values. Tell us of a time you witnessed a person or group “being a trusted resource” at UNMC/MMI.
I would have to say the MMI group in general fall in that category each and every day. Not only are they a trusted resource to UNMC, they are also a trusted resource to the community. MMI is making a very real difference because of the people we help. I feel very fortunate to be a part of MMI. They have been a trusted resource to me since the day I walked through the door.

What is your favorite spring activity?
Getting our pool and backyard ready for summer. My husband and I both love to come up with new landscaping ideas and shop for new shrubs, flowers and trees.

List three things people may not know about you.

  • I have 4 children and 2 grandchildren.
  • My husband and I have walked together for 15+ years now. We walk 3-4 miles most days.
  • I could quote each and every Seinfeld episode if given this challenge.
