Summer fun for science-savvy students

Do you have a student at home who loves science?

Have you already heard “I’m bored” or the ever popular anthem of teenagers: “There’s nothing to do”? The UNMC Youth Learning Center has the cure.

The center still has several openings available this summer in the UNMC Community Academy Health Science Careers Exploration Program for interested seventh- through 12th-graders.

The broad goal of the UNMC Community Academy Health Science Careers Exploration Program is to expose middle and high school students to careers in the health sciences. The program offers participants the opportunity to engage in lectures, presentations, and fun hands-on learning activities, which are conducted by UNMC faculty, staff, students, and community volunteers.

There are three sessions. Each session lasts two weeks, meeting from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

  • Session 1 starts June 18
  • Session 2 starts July 2
  • Session 3 starts July 16

Students can attend one of the three sessions, and availability is limited. Apply now.
