UNO offers discounts on hockey, basketball season tickets

The University of Nebraska at Omaha is offering UNMC employees, faculty and students 20 percent off the purchase price of season tickets for the school’s Division I hockey and men’s basketball programs.

Several packages and payment timetables are available, and UNMC employees can purchase their tickets through a payroll deduction plan, as well.

“We are excited to showcase our teams to the members of the UNMC community,” said Josh White, senior associate athletic director at UNO.

The UNO hockey season begins Oct. 7 and features 19 home games. The UNO men’s basketball season’s first home game is Nov. 13, and the schedule features 14 home games. Notable hockey opponents in Omaha this season include Michigan, North Dakota and Minnesota Duluth, while the basketball team will square off against Seattle, Western Illinois, South Dakota State and Denver at the Ralston Arena.

The Mavericks are entering the National Collegiate Hockey Conference this year and right out of the gate, it is considered perhaps the best conference in the country. The men’s basketball team will face another challenging season in the Summit League, and the Mavericks are poised to capitalize on their late season success from the 2012-13 campaign.

“With plans under way for a new arena that will house both the hockey and basketball teams in 2015, this is a great time to become a Maverick season ticket holder,” White said.
