Celebrating Environmental Services Week: Meet Michael Clark

Michael Clark

Michael Clark

Each day this week — which is Environmental Services Week — we’ll get to know one of our campus environmental services workers who keep the medical center clean and running smooth.

Today we meet:

Name: Michael Clark

Title: Environmental Services Worker

Years at UNMC: Five months

Buildings I work at: The Durham Research Center

Compliments accepted

If you’d like to applaud an EVS worker this week, leave a message in the “Comments” field below. Tell us who you want to thank and what a great job they do.

Favorite thing about UNMC: The operation is efficient, the team is caring and helpful and I like my hours — 5 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Three things you don’t know about me:

  • I was once jogging around Benson Park when a man who was fishing fell into the pond, and I saved his life.
  • I am an avid singer. I used to sing with my church and family members — I still sing a little bit.
  • I love comedy. I’m a big Laurel & Hardy fan.

Mary , who works with us in the head and neck surgery clinic is always cheerful, greeting everyone when they come in in the morning. This is so nice, because you don't always have smiles during the work day. She is always willing to go above and beyond when we ask her to do something or if we have a concern about something. She takes pride in her work. She is a blessing !

All of the Environmental Service employees are a very important part of the safety program. They keep the floors clean preventing slips and falls from the stuff people track in, they clean the facility which keeps people healthy. In the 4230 Building, Zonia and Craig are constantly working to make sure the facility is cleaned. They take pride in their work. I know this is also the case across the campus with the hundreds of other dedicated EVS employees who work hard to make us all look good. Thanks to all, for your hard work which helps keep the campus clean and safe.
