UNMC Physicians’ Division of Urology and The Urology Center, P.C. have teamed up to provide comprehensive urologic care on campus.

The Urology Center, P.C. is a longstanding and respected private practice group of Omaha urologists with well-established ties with UNMC — several have graduated from UNMC and many are urology resident alumni.

In addition, the group has served as teaching faculty for the UNMC residents throughout the past 20 years. Considering these strong ties and today’s changing health care environment, the timing was right to create a unified team of urologic experts to provide patients with the highest quality of care.

“These urologists bring years of experience in clinical care and advanced procedures not previously performed here,” said Chad LaGrange, M.D., chief of urology and Edward & Sally Malashock Chair of Urologic Surgery.

The Urology Center physicians’ have vast experience in robotic-assisted surgical techniques, which allow patients to reclaim their quality of life faster and with less post-operative pain.

“With robotic surgery a more viable option than ever, this technique will be used for the treatment of numerous urologic conditions, most notably urologic cancers,” Dr. LaGrange said.

Female reconstructive surgery will continue to be a focus of the urologists at The Nebraska Medical Center, as part of the broad spectrum of urologic care the division of urology provides to patients.

“We are delighted to have The Urology Center on board with our UNMC Physicians’ urology team. Together, we will enhance our patient care activities, augment our educational experiences for residents and students, and increase our research opportunities,” said David W. Mercer, M.D., McLaughlin Professor and Chairman, Department of Surgery.

“We have had a long-standing relationship with The Urology Center as it relates to resident education and formalizing this partnership with the clinical enterprise was a logical next step,” he said.
