Students, faculty and staff from UNMC’s College of Nursing and the College of St. Mary are hosting a second annual blanket-making project in collaboration with Project Linus.
They’re inviting people who wish to help or make a donation to stop by the third floor atrium of the Center for Nursing Science building on Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. (or possibly later).
Volunteers will cut, tie and assemble colorful fleece into blankets for children and adults.
The colleges have partnered with Project Linus to make fleece blankets for those in need. This year’s goal is to make more than 160 blankets. Last year, more than 80 blankets were delivered to Project Linus, the Ronald McDonald House, the Sienna Francis House, Project Harmony and Embrace the Nations.
The Greater Omaha and Council Bluffs Project Linus is part of a national non-profit organization with more than 300 chapters in cities across the United States. Its mission is to provide love, security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill or traumatized.
The Center for Nursing Science is just east of the College of Nursing building.
