UNMC nursing staff, faculty, students honored by March of Dimes

UNMC nurses were among those honored as The Nebraska Chapter of the March of Dimes and Methodist Hospital System presented Excellence in Nursing awards to Nebraska and southwest Iowa nurses for their dedication to the nursing profession and quality patient outcomes.

Nurses were nominated for their outstanding contributions by individuals who wished to recognize them.

Connie Miller, faculty member of UNMC College of Nursing in Omaha, received the Academic Excellence Award, presented to a nominee who demonstrates excellence in academic education of nursing professionals, conducting research, and/or providing practice expertise.

Heather Carson, of UNMC’s Urology Clinic, received an Excellence in Nursing Award.

Denise Waibel-Rycek, faculty member of the UNMC College of Nursing in Kearney, received the Excellence in Nursing Leadership Award.

Three of UNMC’s graduating nursing students also were honored: Jessica Blake from Omaha, Nick Claridge from the Kearney division and James Kuster from the Western Nebraska Division.
