Where to get the tickets: The $5 tickets will be for sale at the Sorrell Center Alumni Commons (second floor) from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Thursday, Jan. 9. There is a two-ticket per person limit, and only cash will be accepted. There are only a limited number of tickets, which are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. A UNMC ID is needed to purchase tickets — the discount is available only for UNMC employees and students.
About the show: The 2010 Pulitzer Prize winner for drama, “Next to Normal” is a deeply moving rock musical and raw account of a family dealing with mental illness, tragedy and the realities of modern society. An overly medicated mother tries to cope with bipolar disorder as her family struggles to maintain normalcy in their suburban home for her sanity and their own. A hard-driving rock score with tear-inducing ballads make this show unlike any other. Gripping and heart-wrenchingly real, “Next to Normal” is groundbreaking contemporary theatre.
