Medical center recognized for outstanding heart program

The Nebraska Medical Center has again been named to Becker’s Hospital Review 100 Hospitals With Great Heart Programs list. The list recognizes hospitals that have some of the most well-respected heart programs in the country.

The Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team selected the hospitals based on recognition for quality care, clinical awards and research contributions to cardiovascular care.

Hospitals on the list have received recognition for outstanding cardiovascular services by U.S. News & World Report, Truven Health Analytics, Blue Cross Blue Shield, the American College of Cardiology Foundation and the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

“This is an exciting recognition by an independent group,” said Jorge Parodi, executive director of the cardiovascular and pulmonary service line at The Nebraska Medical Center. “It highlights the quality of our staff, and is tangible proof of the high level of teamwork that exists at the med center. It’s also evidence that the words ‘Serious Medicine. Extraordinary Care.’ are much more than just a slogan.”

The list mentioned the fact that The Nebraska Medical Center’s heart and vascular program is the only one in the state to have the Joint Commission’s “Gold Seal of Approval.” The program has also earned recognition from Blue Cross Blue Shield and the American College of Cardiology Foundation.

Hospitals don’t and can’t pay to be on the list. There are never any kinds of fees involved in Becker’s Hospital Review lists.
