With more than 150 team members dressed in matching red T-shirts, the UNMC and The Nebraska Medical Center team showed strong support for the 2003 Komen Nebraska Race for the Cure on Sunday, Oct. 5. The Nebraska Medical Center and UNMC Eppley Cancer Center also was a bronze sponsor of the event.

This year, the Komen Fund awarded the UNMC Eppley Cancer Center two grants to support cancer research training and screening efforts. Specifically, awards were made to support the Breast Cancer Training Program and cancer screenings done with the help of the UNMC Mobile Nursing Unit and the Section on Women and Minority Outreach.

In appreciation for the support from the Komen Foundation, the UNMC Mobile Nursing Unit was available Oct. 5 to distribute cancer information, check blood pressures and test blood sugar levels.
