Stephanie Vas

Stephanie Vas has been named director of the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) program in the School of Allied Health Professions. A UNMC alumnus, she is a licensed medical radiographer and holds certifications in radiography, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). She’s been clinical coordinator for the CT (computed tomography) and MRI programs, and has served in the capacity of interim MRI program director since August 2013.

Julie Vose, M.D., chief of hematology/oncology division, was one of 12 Fellows in the American Society of Clinical Oncology recognized for their extraordinary volunteer service, dedication and commitment to ASCO.

James Armitage, M.D., internal medicine – hematology/oncology, received the 2014 Special Recognition Award from the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

Padma Gulur, M.B.B.S., director of inpatient pain services, pediatric pain and palliative care services, and director of the Center for Pain Medicine MGWest and Waltham for Massachusetts General Hospital, will be at UNMC April 23 to present a lecture on “Advances in Acute Pain Management.” The lecture will be at 6:30 a.m. in the Sorrell Center, Room 1005. Dr. Gulur has said her “clinical interest lies in the treatment of acute, chronic and cancer-related pain with a focus on interventional spine treatments.”

John Reinhardt, D.D.S.
John Reinhardt, D.D.S., dean of the College of Dentistry, received the American Dental Education Association’s ADEA/William J. Gies Foundation Education Fellowship March 16 at the 2014 ADEA annual session & exhibition, held in San Antonio, Texas.

Peter J. Giannini, D.D.S. associate professor and director of clinical and translational research, Cruzan Center, and Sundaralingam Premaraj, Ph.D., associate professor and orthodontic program director, were inducted into the 15th class of American Dental Education Association (ADEA) Leadership Institute Fellows.

UNMC will celebrate Spring Spirit Day from 2 to 4 p.m. on April 1. There will be a free popcorn bar and root beer floats on the second floor of the Sorrell Center, by the north entrance. Also, from March 24 to April 4, members of the UNMC community can upload a “selfie” to Facebook representing their UNMC “selfie.” It can be a photo of the person doing daily work, a favorite place on campus, or an original concept. The selfie with the most likes on Facebook will win a special prize.
