Next Thursday’s UNMC campus blood drive has been extended for another hour because employees and students have given such a positive response.
“The support from our employees and students has been tremendous,” said Peter Pellerito, the UNMC liaison with the American Red Cross, which runs the blood drive. “We’ve had a gratifying sign-up rate, especially considering the critical shortage of blood that has been experienced recently.”
Pellerito said all but a few of the previously available slots have been filled for the blood drive, which will begin at 7 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30. Additional slots are available from noon to 1 p.m. People interested in giving blood over the noon hour should call the Center for Healthy Living at 559-5253. Online registration will not be available for the additional time slots.
