Retirement session tackles Social Security questions

Social Security will be the subject on an added session in the UNMC Human Resources/Benefits Department’s series, “Are You Ready for Retirement?”

The session, “Everything You Wanted to Know About Social Security,” will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, at the Durham Research Center, Room 1002.

Speaker Brian Schneider will discuss questions such as:

  • How much can I expect from Social Security?
  • I hear that full retirement age is no longer age 65. How do I find out when I can take full Social Security?
  • Is there any benefit to drawing at age 62?
  • Would there be an advantage to taking Social Security based on my spouse’s income rather than my own?
  • What about Social Security Disability Insurance?

Registration will be required, and attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch. Unfortunately the sessions cannot be recorded or broadcast and no additional sessions will be given.

To register, log on to UNMC Employee Services, click on the Education tab, then on Event Registration. The registration deadline is May 6.
