Campuswide fitness initiative reaches finish line

The Everybody. Everyday. physical activity incentive program concluded on Sunday, May 11. Approximately 350 members of the UNMC community participated.

Built to move

Human beings are built to move. Without enough physical activity, our health and capabilities suffer. In our modern high-tech world, physical activity no longer occurs automatically. It has become optional. Moving regularly requires a conscious commitment, an active decision to move more and sit less. Incorporating regular physical activity participation into our busy lives isn’t always easy and doesn’t happen overnight. It takes a plan involving the process of creating goals and the strategies necessary to achieve them, which must evolve over time as you continue to build your new habit of regular physical activity participation.

The challenge during the program was to begin each week with a specific plan to include physical activity in the week and then to track progress. Every week, participants reevaluated their situations and committed to a new plan for the following week.

Please fill out the six-week tracking form to the best of your ability. (We will not be grading them.) It would be very helpful if you also answer the Current Exercise Habits questions and the Post Challenge Assessment questions. (No one’s name will be associated with their responses.)

We will begin exchanging your tracking forms for your CamelBak water bottle and entry into the grand prize drawing (for a stability ball chair or a pair of athletic shoes) at the Ruth and Bill Scott Student Plaza lawn today from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. You also can stop by the Center for Healthy Living to drop off your tracking form and pick up your bottle before Memorial Day, May 26.
