Toby Jurovics, Joslyn’s chief curator and Holland Curator of American Western Art, will host an art talk and brown-bag lunch at noon on Tuesday, June 10, in the Sorrell Center, Room 4053.

Jurovics will present an overview of the exhibition “Yellowstone and the West: The Chromolithographs of Thomas Moran,” which will be on display at the Joslyn from June 7 to Sept. 7.

In 1876, Louis Prang published a portfolio of 15 chromolithographs after watercolors by the renowned painter Thomas Moran. Released to coincide with the nation’s centennial, this was one of the first illustrated publications about the West to be printed in color, helping to transform our understanding of the region from an unfamiliar wilderness to a central part of our national identity.

Join Jurovics for an in-depth discussion of this exciting exhibition.

RSVPs are requested. If you are planning to attend, please email the events coordinator.
