Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.
I handle the communication for events or projects done by the vice chancellor of academic affairs and some of his reporting units. I’m also overseeing the rebranding of his website.
“Leadership” is one of UNMC’s brand values. Tell us of a time you witnessed this commitment at UNMC.
I’ve been involved in the e-learning initiative and witnessed several faculty members take on large projects. These innovative e-modules often required the faculty to utilize unfamiliar technology and techniques. Through their commitment, dedication and strong leadership skills, the faculty created new ways to educate their students. The level of talent they all portrayed awed me and was truly inspirational.
What is your favorite summer activity?
There’s nothing better than sitting on the deck, surrounded by friends and family, with the sizzle of food on the grill tantalizing the senses. Lately we’ve been experimenting grilling different types of food. So far, my favorites have been hearts of romaine lettuce, pineapple and peaches — yum!
List three things people may not know about you.
- In college, I starred in two plays and was the stage manager for two others.
- I worked at a radio station for a summer and got to meet New Kids on the Block and Smash Mouth.
- I have a shoe fetish — at the height of my obsession, my collection totaled more than 125. Alas, it has now dwindled to less than 70.
