Wellness Wednesday: Golf event aids UNMC center

The Greater Omaha Golf Championship has selected the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center as one of the beneficiaries of this year’s event.

UNMC and clinical enterprise golfers are invited to sign up for the two-day event, to be held Aug. 9 and 10 at the Dodge Riverside Golf Club, which is adjacent to Harrah’s Casino in Council Bluffs.

The $120 entry fee includes two 18-hole rounds of golf and lunch.

Details include:

  • Six flights including championship and senior (55 and older).
  • Payout: $11,000 based on full field.
  • Practice round available ($20 greens fee, one week in advance of event).
  • Flights determined by handicap.
  • Maximum 144-player field.
  • Will be an NGA point tournament model with a correct championship field.
  • Championship flight 2.5 index and under (higher may declare).
  • Open to all Golf Handicap Information Network (GHIN) members (golfers must have an established handicap), not restricted to Omaha-area golfers.

For more information, call the Dodge Riverside Golf Club, 712-328-4660 or the Greater Omaha Golf Championship, 402-659-2078, 402-917-GOLF.

In addition to the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, the event will benefit the Bellevue University golf teams and provide a $1,000 scholarship to an area high school golfer.
