Applications open for NU leadership position

The University of Nebraska is now accepting nominations and applications for the position of associate vice president for academic affairs for the university.

The person in this position will participate in a wide range of initiatives and policy issues affecting academic programs on all campuses of the University of Nebraska. Specific responsibilities include working with the provost to provide leadership for the university’s multi-campus academic initiatives; identifying strategic areas for research opportunities; building interdisciplinary collaboration between campuses; organizing the review of new graduate programs and faculty proposals for research and teaching support; and working with senior campus administrators, faculty, state legislators, industry partners and other external groups to advance research.

The associate vice president for academic affairs also will work with the provost and institutional research to prepare strategic framework reports for the Board of Regents. Other duties will include liaison with the Nebraska Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education, various Graduate College and academic program matters, events, projects and duties associated with the work of the Office of the Provost.

The position reports to the provost. Individuals who are nominated or apply should have a Ph.D. or its equivalent in a field of science, experience with federal grants and several years of administrative experience. A science background or administrative responsibilities across several disciplines including science areas is preferred.
