Interested in being a nurse? Nursing Showcase Nov. 2 to provide insight

The University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Nursing will hold its annual Nursing Showcase on Sunday, Nov. 2, from 2 to 4 p.m., for those interested in becoming nurses. The event will be held in the college’s Center for Nursing Science building at 4101 Dewey Ave.

Attendees will learn about the profession of nursing, scholarships, financial aid, how to be a competitive applicant and what it’s like to be a nursing student. They also will participate in hands-on activities in the college’s simulation lab.

The event is targeted at those interested in learning about pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN), including high school students and their parents and college students. UNMC nursing students, faculty and staff also will be on hand to answer questions, demonstrate state-of-the-art patient simulation labs and give tours.

The college, which has expanded the number of students in its bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs to address Nebraska’s nursing shortage, offers traditional and accelerated BSN programs in five locations: Omaha, Lincoln, Kearney, Scottsbluff and Norfolk.

Doors open at 1:45 p.m. Parking is available in the parking garage and surface parking areas north and east of the college.
