Dr. Khan to participate in panel discussion on poverty

Ali Khan, M.D., M.P.H., will participate in a panel discussion on Thursday following a screening of the documentary “The Line” at Aksarben Cinema.

“The Line” documents the stories of people across the country living at or below the poverty line. They have goals. They have children. They work hard. Across America, millions are struggling every day to make it above “The Line.”

The event will begin at 5 p.m. with a social hour and wine tasting, followed by a screening of the film at 6:45 p.m. The panel discussion will begin at 7:30 p.m. In addition to Dr. Khan, members of the panel will include Susan Ogborn from Food Bank for the Heartland, Charles Coley from the Metro Area Continuum of Care for the Homeless (MACCH), and LaRita Swinnerton of Together.

Tickets are $35 per person, $60 per couple and can be purchased here or at the door. All proceeds from the ticket sales benefit Together’s First Stop Program.
