GOODLIFE Clinic commercial

College of Nursing’s distance learning commercial

UNMC will launch its spring series of radio commercials today in Omaha, Lincoln and select stations across Nebraska. The three commercials will focus on UNMC’s education and outreach missions by highlighting the College of Nursing’s Distance Learning Program, the College of Dentistry’s Dental Day and the GOODLIFE Clinic, which is operated by an interdisciplinary team of students.

The nursing commercial features Wendy Denman from Alda, Neb., and Stephanie Burge, a College of Nursing faculty member in Kearney. Denman recently graduated with her bachelor of science in nursing, which she earned through the college’s distance learning program. In the commercial, Burge talks about what the distance learning program means for students such as Denman, who want to work and still grow professionally.

The dentistry commercial features the college’s Dental Day event, in which students, faculty and staff see hundreds of children from communities across the state who have not had regular access to dental care. Dental and dental hygiene students gain invaluable experience providing care, as well as an understanding of what it means to give back to the community.

The GOODLIFE commercial features the student-run diabetes clinic at Baker Place. An interdisciplinary team of students including pharmacy, nursing and medical students work together to develop a care plan for the patients they see. They also find a way to guide patients to resources, such as prescription drugs they may need to manage their condition.

The commercials will air through June 13, then resume on June 21 and run through July. 4. The following radio stations will carry the commercials:
