Internal Medicine finalists speak on campus

The search committee for the chair of the UNMC Department of Internal Medicine continues to be active and has advanced two candidates for consideration.

The two candidates are:

  • Sanjay Asthana, M.D., head of the division of geriatrics and gerontology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine.
  • Debra Romberger, M.D., interim chair of the UNMC Department of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Asthana is coming back to Omaha this week for a second visit. At 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, he will speak at an open forum in Room 4053 of the Sorrell Center. His speech is titled, “Academic Health Centers and Health Care Reform: Distinction or Extinction.”

Dr. Romberger will have her second interview on Dec. 8-9. At 5 p.m. Dec. 8, she will speak at an open forum in Room 4053 of the Sorrell Center. Her speech is titled “Looking to the Future for Academic Departments of Internal Medicine.”
