Women’s health focus of Dec. 8 Lincoln Science Cafe

Kristin Rooney, M.D., an assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at UNMC, will talk about women’s health issues such as urinary incontinence and painful bladder disorders at the next Lincoln Science Cafe. The presentation begins at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 8 at VEGA, 350 Canopy St. in Lincoln.

Dr. Rooney is board certified in OB/GYN and female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. After she graduated from Rush Medical College in Chicago, she completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Loyola University in Maywood, Ill., and a fellowship in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery at the Women’s Continence Center of Greater Rochester in Rochester, N.Y.

Science Cafes involve a face-to-face conversation with a scientist about current science topics. They are open to everyone (21 and older), and take place in casual settings like pubs and coffeehouses. Each meeting is organized around an interesting topic of conversation. A scientist gives a brief presentation followed by a question and answer period.
