What sparked your interest in nursing?
Interest in nursing came to me at a young age while trying to figure out the extraordinary mechanisms of the human body. Throughout my life, I have become ill, I have had broken bones, I have watched people around me go through cancer treatments. I also have watched people around me die and people get well. The ability of the body to overcome horrific diseases has always captured my interest. The way the body slowly shuts down when a person dies is a fascinating and irreversible process.

Through all of these experiences I have known that I want to be a nurse to learn about these processes. I want to be there for the family members and for the patient. I want to be the compassionate hand they hold, the shoulder they cry on and their sounding board for their concerns. Nurses are there through the hard times and good times. They are there to make sure the patients understand what the doctors have told them. Nurses are constantly there for their patients and that is a major driving force behind my passion for this field of work.
