June 11 deemed day of mourning; UNMC offices will be closed

UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D., has announced that UNMC offices will be closed on Friday, June 11, in observance of a national day of mourning for former President Ronald Reagan. Friday will be considered a day of (paid) administrative leave for all leave-eligible employees.

“Gov. Mike Johanns announced earlier today that all Nebraska state government agencies will close on Friday, in conjunction with President Bush’s federal government closing order in observance of a national day of mourning for former President Reagan,” Dr. Maurer said. “Following university policy, UNMC will take appropriate action to comply with the closing of the federal government.”

Certain UNMC units may need to remain open and operational on June 11. Employees who are required to work on June 11 will be paid for the time worked and also granted an additional day off. Questions may be referred to the UNMC payroll office at (402) 559-7460.
