Project Purple, a group that has funded pancreatic cancer research at UNMC, is partnering with the Lincoln Marathon as its designated charity this year.
In May 2014, Project Purple, a non-profit organization raising funds and awareness for pancreatic cancer, pledged a $150,000 grant to the UNMC pancreatic cancer research team.
As the exclusive partner for the Lincoln Marathon, Project Purple has been allotted a number of charity runner spots for the May 3 event. They are seeking runners from UNMC who wish to raise funds for Project Purple.

The Lincoln Track Club (LTC) chose Project Purple as its designated charity to honor Jayne Snyder, a former LTC board member and Lincoln city council member, who lost her battle with pancreatic cancer in 2011. Pancreatic cancer accounts for approximately 3 percent of all cancers in the U.S. and 7 percent of cancer deaths.
