“A Healthier You” is the topic for this spring’s Learn@Lunch series, which will begin on March 19.

The topic for the first session of the series is “Living Well: Making the Good Life a Reality!”

Peter Pellerito, fitness specialist at the Center for Healthy Living, will speak from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Durham Research Center auditorium.

We are all aware of the importance of living well. We know that being physically active, eating well and managing stress is good for us. However, as we cope with the pressures of our busy lives we find that leading a healthy lifestyle can often be quite difficult.

Only 3 percent of Americans meet these four healthy lifestyle characteristics:

  • being a nonsmoker.
  • maintaining a healthy weight (BMI of 18.5 to 25).
  • eating four servings of fruits and vegetables per day.
  • being physically active on a regular basis.

The presentation will provide an opportunity to gain a greater appreciation for everyday wellness choices, and it will provide strategies for incorporating small but significant changes into a daily routine to increase wellness.

Future Learn@Lunch presentations will be held on April 16 and May 21. For more information on the series, click here.
