Hanna Weaver

Each Thursday, we randomly feature a medical center employee.

This week, we learn more about:

  • Name: Hanna Weaver
  • Hometown: Council Bluffs

  • Years at UNMC: Two

Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.
I am an emergency medical dispatcher for the four-mile radius of the UNMC campus in Omaha. We are a very small department of 10 dispatchers. It’s a 24-hour operation with three different shifts. Multi-tasking is an important part of our job, and communicating with your partners is key.

Leadership is one of UNMC’s brand values. Tell us of a time you witnessed leadership at UNMC.

Leadership is very important. Setting a good example for UNMC and for our department by going the extra mile is what counts. Our job is very different from day to day, and it can be high stress at times, especially with prioritizing things in a matter of seconds.

What are your favorite spring activities?
My favorite activity is getting the garden ready in May and planting flowers and getting all my yard items out to make the yard look beautiful with all my pieces of driftwood. I also enjoy walking my dog Wilson in the parks, playing in the yard, and spending time with family and friends grilling out.

Things people don’t know about me:

  • I have known how to water ski since I was 4, and I have slalom skied since I was 9. I started doing ski tricks at the age of 12.
  • I moved to Colorado five days after graduating from high school and lived there for years until returning back to the Midwest.
  • I enjoy helping people in any way possible to make their lives easier.
