Construction to impact Emile Street traffic

Beginning Monday, one lane of Emile Street will be closed as part of the Fred & Pamela Buffet Cancer Center construction project.

The work is necessary to construct the skywalk from the Durham Outpatient Center to the Lot 50 parking structure. The north lane closest to Lot 2/Green Parking structure, and the adjacent sidewalk, is anticipated to be impacted at various times from April through early September.

During this work, the pedestrian crosswalk on the east side of the circle drive will remain open.

On Sunday, April 19, the DOC circle drive will be closed to allow construction crews to stage a concrete pour associated with the skywalk. This work is being done on a Sunday to minimize the impact to our patients, visitors and staff. Lot 2/Green Parking access will still be available from the west side of the garage from 45th Street.

As reported previously in Nebraska Medicine Now, sidewalks and a single lane of Emile Street, south of Durham Research Center also will be closed in the coming weeks to allow for the installation of new water pipes. Employees and students are asked to follow all posted detour signage and not walk in the street.
