Holi Festival rescheduled for Saturday

The second annual Holi Festival of Colors will be held Saturday, April 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the grassy area of the UNMC Ruth & Bill Scott Student Plaza, between Hope Tower and the ice rink.

It has been rescheduled due to the rain over the weekend.

Billed as the world’s happiest event, Holi is a Hindu festival that celebrates the coming of spring with lots of color. Packets of colored corn starch are thrown in celebration. Food and music also are available at the event.

The first color throw will be at 12:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to wear a white T-shirt and take photos, which they can submit to Flickr for a photography contest. The deadline to submit photos taken during the festival is Monday, April 27.

Other festival activities include a Tibetan welcoming ceremony, Chinese chopstick races and a fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House featuring a raffle for a Samsung Galaxy tablet.
