UNMC’s Spirit Day events will be held on the Omaha and Kearney campuses today. The College of Nursing-Northern Division will hold the first of two events on Monday.

In Omaha:

Activities will take place between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the Ruth & Bill Scott Student Plaza. In the event of inclement weather, activities will be moved inside the Sorrell Center (second floor).
This year, Spirit Day will feature:

  • “Dirt cup” treats with gummy worms.
  • A chance to step inside a cash machine for a chance to win prizes and gift cards.
  • Yoga on the lawn (beginning at noon). In the event of rain, yoga will take place in the Center for Healthy Living gym.
  • Free UNMC reusable insulated bags.
  • UNMC items for sale by the UNMC Bookstore.
  • Hands-on booths at the Sustainability Expo.

In addition, emblem cards are still hidden throughout the Omaha campus. Staff and students can redeem the cards for May Day baskets. Bring the cards to the public relations office on the third floor of the 4230 Building to redeem them.

On the College of Nursing-Kearney Division campus:

Spirit Day will feature a brunch-style break with fruit and muffins.

College of Nursing-Northern Division:

Spirit Day will be split into two events, with juice and rolls for Semester 2 students on Monday, April 27, and refreshments at the annual Senior Send-Off Picnic for the Semester 4 students, along with staff and faculty.

“Spirit Day is a chance for the university to say thank you to its faculty, staff and students,” said Anna Kirshenbaum, campus events coordinator. “We know members of the UNMC community have been working hard all winter — this is a chance to come out into the spring weather for some fun activities, prizes and giveaways.”
