Second Holi Festival a colorful success

Third-year graduate student Pravin Yeapuri’s photo capturing the explosion of color upon the first color throw at the 2015 UNMC Holi Festival is the winning entry in the photo competition held in conjunction with the event.

Yeapuri is a student in the lab of Joseph Vetro, Ph.D., in the department of pharmaceutical sciences in the College of Pharmacy. His photo will be on display in the Durham Research Center.

More than 150 people celebrated the Holi Festival of Colors on April 25 on the Student Plaza, enjoying Indian food, music and games.

A raffle for a Samsung Galaxy tablet or $50 gift card to Valentino’s raised $514 for the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Sugandha Saxena, a graduate student in Dr. Rakesh Singh’s lab, won the tablet, and Elizabeth Fiala, a project assistant for the Health Professions Tracking Service in the College of Public Health, won the gift card.
