UNMC chancellor to visit 4 communities in greater Nebraska June 30-July 1

University of Nebraska Medical Center Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., will visit four communities in Nebraska on June 30-July 1. The goal of the visits is to learn about health care opportunities and challenges in the area, and how UNMC can better serve the communities’ needs.

Dr. Gold will visit health care providers and practitioners in Chadron, Alliance, Mullen and North Platte.  Bob Bartee, vice chancellor for external affairs, will accompany Dr. Gold.

During the visits, they will meet with hospital, college and community leaders. During a public event in Alliance from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on June 30, at the West Side Event Center, members of the community can ask questions and hear updates about UNMC.

“UNMC and Nebraska Medicine are a resource for the state. We welcome the chance to connect with communities, hear how we can help them and provide updates on our progress,” Dr. Gold said. “We thank the citizens of Nebraska for the outstanding support they provide to help make UNMC and Nebraska Medicine successful. Together, we are making strides in improving Nebraska’s health.”

Dr. Gold will provide updates on several fronts, including UNMC’s economic impact in rural communities and the recently approved construction of a state-of-the-art education center – the Interprofessional Experiential Center for Enduring Learning (iEXCELâ„ ) – at UNMC.

He also will provide brief updates about construction projects at UNMC, including the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center; the Lozier Center for Pharmacy Sciences and Education and the UNMC Center for Drug Discovery (all one facility); and the Lauritzen Outpatient Center &
Fritch Surgery Center.

We are Nebraska Medicine and UNMC. Our mission is to lead the world in transforming lives to create a healthy future for all individuals and communities through premier educational programs, innovative research and extraordinary patient care.
