Dr. Daccarett promoted to associate professor
Miguel Daccarett, M.D., has been promoted to associate professor, UNMC Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation, effective July 1. Dr. Daccarett has been at UNMC since 2006 and specializes in orthopaedic traumatology and sports medicine.

Farewell tea for Dr. Sasson on July 15
The campus is invited to a farewell tea for Aaron Sasson, M.D., surgical oncology, on July 15 from 2 to 4 p.m. in Private Dining Room C. Dr. Sasson is taking a position as chief of surgical oncology at Stony Brook University in New York. Dr. Savalia's TEDTalk now online
Former UNMC student regent and medical student Krupa Savalia, M.D., Ph.D., spoke in May as part of the sold-out TEDxLincolnWomen 2015. The presentation, on experimenting with experience and the value of going into uncharted territory, is now available for online viewing here. The second annual TEDxLincolnWomen 2015 was held on Lincoln's Nebraska Innovation Campus and had a theme of "Momentum."

Sandra Willett interim director of physical therapy
Effective July 1, Sandra Willett was named the interim director of the Munroe-Meyer Institute's physical therapy department. Willett also is an assistant professor and coordinator of clinical education for physical therapy students at MMI.

Changes in College of Public Health student affairs announced
Two changes in the organizational structure of the College of Public Health were announced this week by Dean Ali S. Khan, M.D., M.P.H. Effective July 1, Alice Schumaker, Ph.D., assumed the role of associate dean for academic and student affairs. This expands Dr. Schumaker's current leadership role in academic affairs to include student affairs. It will be supportive of a student-centered environment that promotes the integration of academic learning and the student experience, Dr. Khan said.

Jessica Tschirren's new role of director of student affairs also took effect. In this expanded role, Tschirren will direct the planning, coordination and management of student affairs and student services functions of the college. This includes recruitment, admissions, enrollment, records and registration, retention, scholarships and awards, graduation, student activities and organizations and alumni engagement.
