Patient valet parking to relocate to Lot 50

Effective today, patient valet parking will be relocated from Lot 2 to Lot 50, Level A.

The change is necessary because of construction improvements being made in Lot 2, which has impacted traffic and the number of patient parking stalls available for patients and visitors. Lot 2 is the (Green) Visitor/Patient parking structure adjacent to the Durham Outpatient Center. Lot 50 is the on the south side of Emile Street.

Employees who park in Lot 50 should be aware that the addition of patient valet parking to Level A may impact parking on subsequent levels of the garage.

So even though we just renewed and are paying for parking in lot 50, we will need to call if it is full? If relocated to park else where am I going to be reimbursed for paying more for lot 50? This could also make me late, is that going to be taken care of by someone?

So, as an employee, where am I supposed to park if Lot 50 is full? It is only Tuesday and has happened already?

Thanks for the questions, Bernadine and Judy. The standard guidelines apply: When/if an employee lot is full, employees should park in any other employee lot and notify Parking Services. Parking Services does not reimburse employees when/if a lot is full and/or if the employee is late.

Questions: How many stalls will be lost to employees? How long will this last? Why don't they use Level D? We are paying for "covered/garage" parking, but now many more of us will be on the roof.

Jim: Approximately 75 employee stalls were converted to valet stalls. At this time, it's not known if the change is temporary or permanent. The monthly fee for parking in Lot 50 does not guarantee “covered” parking, the fee is for parking anywhere in Lot 50, including the top (uncovered) stalls.
