Lecture today will explore Omaha’s sister cities

Due to the inclement weather, La Compañìa de Danza de la Universidad Euro Hispanoamericana from Omaha’s Sister City of Xalapa, Mexico, will not be performing on the ice rink at the Ruth and Bill Scott Student Plaza today.

Instead, a revised program will take place at noon in the Sorrell Center, Room 2018. Join The Durham Museum and Curator Carrie Meyer in welcoming Larry Uebner from the Omaha Sister Cities Association (OSCA).

Learn more about the history of the OSCA and Omaha’s partnerships with:

  • Shizuoko, Japan,
  • Braunschweig, Germany
  • Siauliai, Lithuania,
  • Naas, Ireland
  • Xalapa, Mexico, and
  • Yantai, China.

Uebner’s photographic presentation will tell the story of these international partnerships, the achievements of the program, and the mutual benefits to the communities involved.

Employees and students are encouraged to bring a lunch.

The lecture is offered through the Time Travelers partnership, which provides free museum admission for UNMC and Nebraska Medicine employees, students and their immediate families, with valid identification. The partnership also offers lectures, workshops and other events on the medical center campus.
